Frequently Asked Questions

What is RDAP?

RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol) is the modern replacement for WHOIS. It returns structured JSON data over HTTPS, making it more secure and easier to parse than legacy WHOIS.

Why doesn’t RDAP work for some domains?

Some country-code TLDs (ccTLDs) haven’t implemented RDAP yet. Tudor DNS automatically falls back to WHOIS when RDAP isn’t available. A few TLDs don’t offer any public registration data.

Is my data backed up?

If you enable iCloud sync, your data is automatically backed up to your iCloud account and synced across your devices. You can also manually export your data at any time.

Does the AI feature require an Internet connection?

No. The AI assistant uses Apple’s on-device Foundation Models, which run entirely on your device. No Internet connection is required, and your data never leaves your device.

Why does the AI feature only work on newer devices?

Apple’s Foundation Models require specific hardware capabilities (Neural Engine) that are only available on iPhone 16, M-series iPads, and M-series Macs. Older devices don’t have the required processing power for on-device AI.

What does DNSSEC validation mean?

DNSSEC (Domain Name System Security Extensions) cryptographically signs DNS records to prevent tampering. When Tudor DNS shows DNSSEC as valid, it means the domain’s DNS responses are authenticated and haven’t been modified.

Can I import domains from a spreadsheet?

Yes. Tudor DNS supports importing domains from CSV files. Use the Import feature in Settings and select your file. The app will automatically parse domain names and add them to your portfolio or watchlist.
