Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 2025

Our Commitment to Privacy

Tudor DNS is designed with privacy as a core principle. We believe your domain portfolio information is personal and should stay that way. This policy explains exactly what data we collect (very little) and what we do with it (keep it on your device).

Data Storage

All your data stays on your device. Tudor DNS stores all portfolio information, watchlists, lookup history, and settings locally on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. We do not operate servers that store your data.

iCloud Sync

If you enable iCloud sync, your data is stored in your personal iCloud account using Apple’s CloudKit private database. This data is:

  • Encrypted in transit and at rest
  • Accessible only to you through your Apple ID
  • Not accessible to Tudor DNS or any third party
  • Subject to Apple’s privacy policy

You can disable iCloud sync at any time in the app settings. Your data will remain on your local device.

RDAP and WHOIS Queries

When you look up a domain, the app sends queries directly to domain registries and WHOIS servers. These queries:

  • Go directly from your device to the registry’s servers
  • Do not pass through Tudor DNS servers
  • May be logged by the registry according to their policies
  • Include only the domain name being queried (no personal information)

DNS Queries

DNS resolution queries are sent to public DNS servers (Cloudflare, Google, or others based on your settings). These queries:

  • Use DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH) for encryption
  • Include only the hostname being resolved
  • Are subject to the DNS provider’s privacy policy

Analytics and Tracking

We do not collect any analytics or telemetry. Tudor DNS:

  • Does not include any analytics SDKs
  • Does not track your usage patterns
  • Does not collect crash reports automatically
  • Does not use any third-party services

On-Device AI

The AI assistant feature uses Apple’s on-device Foundation Models. All AI processing happens locally on your device. Your questions and domain data are never sent to external AI services.

Data Export

You can export all your data at any time using the app’s export feature. Exports are saved locally and you control where they go.

Children’s Privacy

Tudor DNS is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through app updates. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
